rip laptop.

Okay so judging by the title you can probably tell why their have been no updates in a few days, after 5 glorious years together my laptop bit the dust. 5 years is actually a good lifespan for a laptop in my books. So I am posting from wherever and whenever I can so that this little blog will not share the same fate as my laptop. In the meantime here is a recipe via sidewalk shoes for homemade orange infused liqueur.

Off season is the best season.

It would be simpler to share all my favorite places to buy Halloween decor if this were actually October, but the benefit of it being the off season is the savings. I was in a Chapters/Indigo yesterday and after perusing the endless aisles of books I found myself in the gift section. Scratch that, I be-lined for the gift section as soon as stepping through the doors and then hit the sales racks, I am one of those people who shops at Chapters for the gift wrap and papyrus cards, which by the way are gorg. So back to the sale rack, what did I find, well, among the mess I found the Edgar Allan Poe boxed candle and diffuser...eeekkk! Yes, I let out a squeal like a little child, total shocker. Anyways the candle was $5 and the diffuser was $10 but here is the real shocker, did I buy them, no! Why do you ask I am not sure, am I heading back today to get them, YES! Oh the joy of hunt. Finding something like this, at this time of year at this price, golden. I found them online but its for the set of four which includes other authors and is no longer available online only in store. I feel the need for another trip to Chapters...

365 days of Halloween.

So, a blog, about Halloween, is it really needed? Do people have the same obsession passion for the Holiday as I do? I'm hoping yes. I was thinking about this blog and if people will ever read it and somehow starting thinking about wedding blogs. Don't get me wrong I love a good wedding/entertaining blog and the ones I have stumbled across have oodles of eye candy and great resources, but its just one day. I've been searching for a while for a Halloween blog and they seem to me to be scarce and difficult to track down. By contrast their are hundreds thousands of wedding blogs, websites, magazine, shows etc. I am not trying to diminish the importance of a wedding but that's a lot of resources for an event that happens once. I am simply wondering why the same resources don't currently exist for a holiday that occurs every year without fail.

I'm not sure if the fact I grew up in England has any reason for my love of the holiday. I remember my mother taking me trick or treating to a handful of house every year in England. The reason for this, it seemed that Halloween is not a "big deal" in England and the doors on which we knocked every year were Canadian families living in England that my mother knew would be handing out treats. By contrast when I moved to Canada I was introduced to an entirely different Halloween. One that included elaborate costumes, endless hours of trick or treating and countless parties. This is the one that I fell in love with and hasn't lost its appeal to me even now. So I ask, is this blog just for me or is this a "resource" that is needed? Well either way I am early in to this and enjoying posting inspired finds for Halloween. I hope one day someone else will enjoy it as well. Bathroom Boo.

Okay strange title I know but I am a little rusty on my witty ghost jokes. Moving on...I came across this adorable diy for stenciling towels. Love this idea, but the stencil could be used for many different applications. I'm already envisioning an arsenal of little ghostie (real word I swear) vases or candle holders in addition to towels. Also I want to try continuing on the theme by getting a white window marker, using this stencil as inspiration, and free hand drawing them onto my bathroom mirror. I came across these paper cut outs on pinterest and they went straight to my I need to diy or need to buy list.Unfortunately looks like this sellers Etsy shop is on hiatus since 2009, similar to this blog. I am back again after a rather lengthy break and here's hoping that mrYen comes back from his and opens up shop again.
